Michigan cannabis rules, read from Lansing
Michigan legalized medical cannabis in 2008 and adult use in 2018. Today the Cannabis Regulatory Agency, based in Lansing, licenses growers, processors, testing labs and retailers, and its rules decide what gets tested and what goes on a package.
That puts the 517 close to the source. We read rule changes, agency bulletins and recalls so you can see what a Michigan license guarantees and what it doesn't. A licensed product has passed required testing. That's different from a promise about how it'll affect you.
We cover the parts of state law that touch consumers most: labeling, testing, possession limits, local opt-outs, medical patients and driving. On that last one the short version is simple. Legal to buy doesn't mean legal to drive.
Coming up: a beginner's guide to Michigan cannabis rules, and what changes once you cross the state line.
